Hi,
I love what the EQ Comp adds to my tone on some of my patches, however, I noticed that using this algorithm introduces a noticeable (and annoying) lag.
I haven’t noticed the other algorithms doing this and I hope that this is an isolated case because it gets in the way of the song.
Would really appreciate your help.
Regards,

Hey guys. My colleague, Russ, who worked on this algorithm just had a baby and is out for paternity leave. I'll ask him to take a look at this thread when he gets back.

Hi guys,
I actually picked up this algorithm from another guy who no longer works at Eventide. I was reluctant to change it b/c he had to leave so close to its release. The compressor(s) were implemented as look-ahead compressors, I think to deal with some transient handling and/or clipping issues. I've never liked the latency either, I can take away the look ahead delays and see if it drastically changes the sound or causes undo clipping. Even so, it might be worth the trade-off. What do you guys think?

I am surprised that it does not bother anyone. Is the latency maybe so bad on my device only? Is my H9 perhaps broken?

I’m actually bothered… I was forced to compensate by adjusting my playing. Thankfully most of the patches have acceptable latency.

Ok, I removed the look ahead in the compressors for EQ Compressor to significantly reduce the latency. This applies in the new SpaceTime release, H9 5.3.0[4]. Give it a try and let me know if it improves for you guys.

Not exactly a scientific assessment here, but the compressor is quite a bit snappier. I didn’t try to measure latency, and the ‘combined’ compression parameters can make it difficult to compare & contrast. But, hey … it plays well now.

It’s gotten a lot better in this release.

After I did the recent update I played with the EQ-Comprossor algo and then I thought: “am I imaginning or the latency is gone?”.
So obviously you did a good job! Thank you.

No Problem! I'm liking it better myself as well. As a bass player, I usually try to play behind the beat a smidge, but I always felt the EQ Compressor was putting me too far back, and on further inspection, it totally was, so thanks for speaking up and bring it to our attention.
