I play violin with pickup and sometimes a mic also. I just got an H90 and I will use it with a two channel preamp that takes both the pickup and mic inputs and has an effects loop. I can then do separate gain, EQ and then mix the inputs. I put effects like H90 into the effects loop. There are several two channel preamps for acoustic instruments that will do this. I use the Grace Design Felix. The latest version has a stereo effects loop but isn’t cheap. Search for “The Pickup Test” for lots of related info, much of it specific to cello.
