At first I was resistant to the email list closing, but now with seperate forums for each major products, it makes a lot more sense.

Cool! Glad to see the new forums!

Ready to update My Orville. I have one of the older mother boards. Any info on the price to update these days?

        • #116749

Congrats!  This looks great.  Although now I have to make to effort to visit rather than having all kinds of interesting stuff arrive in my inbox, I like the organisation of the forum.  Now if I only had time to crak vSig!

          Cheers all,

          ben

                 Hi Sean

we just changed website yesterday, so some info may be still under work.

I'll make sure we get that info out as soon as possible.

                Please post w/topic relevant subject…

                thanks

I have a somewhat technical question: is there a bank change command that you can send to an Eventide DSP7000 that will cause it to select the card bank?

                  Thanks,

                   Mike

                   Hi Michael

here's the tech info for Orville/DSP units:

                   *BANK CHANGE*

1- Bank Change via midi CC#0
Control Change #0 with a value corresponding to the bank number you want to
recall, sent on Midi Ch 1, followed by a prog change > DSP A
Control Change #0 with a value corresponding to the bank number you want to
recall, sent on Midi Ch 2, followed by a prog change > DSP B
                  If base channel=1
                  Keep midi omni: OFF

                  2- Bank Change via SysEx

                  F0 Sysex Start Status
                  1C Eventide ID
                  70 Product ID
                  01 unit ID
                  03 Sysex Bank Chnage code
                  00 always
00 internal (01 for memory card)
                  0x bank first digit
                  0x bank second digit
                  00 always
                  01 (DSP A) [02 = DSP B]
                  F7 End of Sysex

Currently there's a problem in byte 11, where 00 would normally address
CURRENT DSP (the one you look at…in the display).
00 is not working, so you need to choose 01 or 02, always selecting the DSP
                  you want to address.
This will be fixed in a future OS release.

                  *PROGRAM CHANGE*
Midi program changes sent on BASE Midi Channel will change presets in the
                  current bank on DSP A
Midi program changes sent on BASE Midi Channel+1 will change presets in the
                  current bank on DSP B
Midi program changes sent on BASE Midi Channel+2 will change ROUTINGS

                  Set:
                  base channel : 1
                  OMNI mode : off

ATTENTION : THIS IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY.

                  HERE's THE WORKAROUND:

Orville V3.002 has a bug that prevents it to work correctly.
                  There is a work_around though:

If you send CC messages for BANK Changes AND PROGRAM Changes to address the desired presets, the unit will respond correctly.
You will need to ALWAYS send a Bank Change and a Program change to load a specific preset in a specific DSP.

                  Here's how:

1- Bank Change via midi CC#0
Control Change #0 with a value corresponding to the bank number you want to
recall, sent on Midi Ch 1, followed by a prog change > DSP A
Control Change #0 with a value corresponding to the bank number you want to
recall, sent on Midi Ch 2, followed by a prog change > DSP B
                  If base channel=1
                  Keep midi omni: OFF

                  *PROGRAMS LINKS*
Orville supports a feature called Programs Linking.
This will allow you to create a bank containing "links" to any preset in any
bank, so that this bank of links will be bthe current bank any dsp will look
                  at.
This will enable you to load any preset from any bank, without changing the
                  "current" bank.
                  "Linking" Programs

(Allowing Programs that are Actually Saved in Multiple Banks to Appear as
Though They are Saved in the Same Bank.)
Saving programs in an orderly fashion in a single bank can facilitate many
                  tasks. One such task
would be the loading of programs on stage. Who wants to go scrolling hither,
thither, and yon, searching among hundreds of programs for the solo effect
that has to happen NOW? In
such a situation, you'd like to save all of the programs you'll use in the
show in one bank in the order
they'll be used. But, if all of the programs you'll use in the show are
already saved elsewhere in the DSP7000, won't
re-saving them to the "Live bank" waste a lot of precious storage space?
Yes, Watson, it would, but we
can circumvent that problem by Linking programs to the "Live bank."

A link requires a paltry 38 bytes of storage space (recall that the smallest
of programs require around 1000 bytes !). In reality, the link tells the
                  DSP7000 where the program of
interest is actually saved, but as far as you're concerned, the link is the
                  program of interest.

To link a program, first go to the PROGRAM area. Select the bank where you
would like a link to show up.
Press the <link> SOFT KEY to reveal the "pop-up" menu shown on the right.
Find the program you want to link to with the second and third lines, "bank"
and "program." Select the "slot" you would like the link to appear in with
                  "program number."
Place the cursor over "link" and press SELECT to confirm, or place the
cursor over "cancel" and press SELECT to abort.
Unlike ordinary program names, an "L" follows a link name to let you know
that it is, in fact, a link. You can delete a link just as you
would delete an ordinary program, and doing so will have no effect on the
"linked" program. If you load a program through a
link and later chose to <update> that program, the actual linked program is
                  updated!

If a link is made to a program that is later deleted, the file name will no
                  longer be shown.
Instead, the phrase –NO LINK SOURCE– is displayed. Additionally, if a link
                  is made to a
program on a Memory Card, the file name will not be shown while the card is
                  removed.
Instead, the phrase –NO LINK SOURCE– will again be displayed. Reinserting
                  the Memory Card will restore
the link. If you create a link in an internal memory bank to a program on a
card and then happen to insert a
different card that has a program in the same bank and slot number, the link
                  on internal memory then will
refer to the program on the different card. Since this is probably not your
                  intention, we recommend either taking
care to put links only on the card that contains the program to which they
refer, or to use different bank
                  numbers on different cards.

                  all the best
