stuck after “loading operating system”

  hi,
  
  my eclipse (3.51) won't power up correctly – It runs the "loading operating system" screen and the progress bar gets to 100% then the unit hangs.
  
  If I hold "bypass" down to force load from flash rom the unit powers up fine.
  
  help !
