Just wishful thinking on my part. Notice the smiley?
Maybe soon. I've noticed a lot of activity as of late. -

Thanks man, phew!
Yeah, I saw the smiley but I interpreted it as meaning true happiness right now. Waiting for 4.0 has taken its toll on my nerves 😉 Oh well, better a reasonably working beta than a totally non functional one today. -

Heck it's worth the wait. I'm personally thrilled the way Eventide is supporting the Eclipse. I love Eventide's support for their units, and the company period. They build keepers.

Uh oh! Figured if I didn't come check everyday the wait wouldn't hurt as much. A couple months later and still no update is worrisome (partly because I had a system freeze tonight and had to wipe all my presets to get it back up).
Anyone heard something useful or at least not immensely vague? Programming must have turned out to be much more complicated than even the BIG E expected.

So got the eclipse in early April instead of the Timefactor and Mod Factor as thought the update would be out soon , intention was to use it live mainly
In particular really liked the the user u2john316 on youtube , use of timefactor for U2's still havent found what im looking for so though it more cost effective to but eclipse in long run with update due soon rather than mod factor and timefactor
Is there any real update on this V4.0 release ?
Like ,….
Its not working at all , we are going back to rewrite from scratch
Our Programmer left and we are hiring a new one
It works 95% but still working on some bugs
V4.0 is not a workable Idea ,sorry for getting your hopes up

Folks
we are sorry for the delay on Eclipse V4.0 release. There has been extra work on pitch shifters optimization which was already on its way for the Pitch Factor. So we decided to get both done one after the other. It shouldn't take much longer after the recent PFactor update release.
V4.0 will be released.
thanks for your patience!

Hi Mike
unfortunately you'll have to wait for a complete beta…but believe me, it's really worth.
You'll find a number of system enhancements, like better MIDI Clock, I/O configuration, 16 externals for remote control galore and more…. all presets from Time and Mod Factors…. a collection of new presets that includes some bread & butter things, some SUPER cool post processed reverbs, some H8000 verbs (OH YEAH!), 3 brand new GTR RIGS..alone worth getting an Eclipse today…. some amazing new chorus and flangers presets, including M.Landau stuff (AGAIN..OH YEAH!!!)…. some new very creative mangled/filtered stuff for the more adventurous Tiders….even a talking verb! New pads, trems and vibes to surf on, and finally…THE 5th!

I hope Eventide continues to give users a heads up about OS and/or other product updates. Personally, I appreciate it very much, and I'm sure just about everyone else does as well. The only thing I'd suggest is to provide more frequent updates if there are going to be long delays. Obviously everyone here has been drooling to get their hands on 4.0, so people's excitement gets the best of them, I think. If an Eventide representative posted every now and then with an update (e.g. "Sorry, guys, it'd probably going to be at least another month before the release because we are working on a few things still…"), everyone would probably just chill out and wait patiently. Italo did provide an update like that a while back, so thanks Italo! 🙂 I have no problem at all waiting. I think everyone is just very eager and is anticipating the release a great deal.
Thanks for the update.

Thanks Jeff.
We are aware of the frustration implied by waiting for an announced update. Everyone wants to put the hands on the new thing, try it out and get inspiration for new sounds and songs. It's the magic of what we all do. Believe me…we know it very well.
Unfortunately when a new OS goes under works, sometimes new problems may arise, depending on how deep the changes are. Moreover we may want to add new features and possibilities and all of this may imply many different changes. To give you an idea of what we have to go thru, an important OS update can easily go thru a number of builds varying from 30 to 50 we have to test. Sometimes even more.
The goal here is to give you something that works smoothly and should not present any major issue. Beta testing will then provide feedback for minor things (hopefully) to fix and eventually run down to the last official build. The magic!
We have added a lot of stuff. It's probably THE or the second biggest OS update in the Eclipse history. Bear with us for some more time 'cause it'll be worth as it has been very valuable to ask you advice on the new presets and listen to it. V4.0 is close enough.
Thank you all for patience (and impatience ) and understanding.

I'm going nutzo because one: it's 107 degree in Austin Tx,
and two: I've been waiting for this magic since 2008! I read that it would be out in January somewhere (Harmony Central perhaps?)
I am completely aware of how difficult implementing updates are though.
Doesn't make 107 degree, or 8 months of waiting any easier, but I understand.

Thanks Nick! I personally appreciate the updates and announcements. If you need time to get everything in and working right(Because you know people will also *** if it's buggy), then so be it if it's very close…so I don't see the big deal. Don't worry about it. If anything, it says a lot about what a huge update this is for the Eclipse.
Folks being impatient …I mean crap…..it's free ! The folks working on it shouldn't feel so rushed that they leave anything out or put out something buggy. Eclipse took a hit in the past with crashes and it's not until semi recently that's it's overcome that rep…which I think it pretty much has.
They could be like Korg, where it's not a peep and you're buying a machine that says "support for years to come" on the website when it's already been discontinued.
Thanks Eventide for working so hard on the os update….The Eclipse is a beautiful machine, I love that you take such pride in the "keepers" you make.

The thing I dig most about these guys (Eventide!) is that we can discuss with them suggestions, ideas etc etc (via this forum), and they listen and actually incorporate our ideas into the products……..Try that with Roland / Korg etc. So Eventide looking forward to the upgrade, and appreciate that you listen to us, the artists. Italo, I am upgrading from 3.0 to 4 beta. Folling the flash card instructions I copied the unziped files onto a 64m card, files only no folder per the PDF. Power downt the unit, insert the card, hold down the "1" key and powered up the unit.
My eclipse has "Eventider Software Update utility V2.04" for the last 10 minutes. Now Im afraid to turn this off.
What can I do?
-
July 29, 2009 at 5:43 pm #129969
The card may have been formatted as FAT32 for some reason, or have become corrupted.
You should probably try either a different card, or reformatting this one as FAT on a PC.
You should be alright otherwise – it is very unlikely that this has damaged your unit.
-
July 29, 2009 at 6:22 pm #129973jcshirkeParticipant
I am using the same flash card that I used to update my H8000 once upon a time. I'm not sure how to reformat my card as a FAT. Also, I'm on a Mac. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff
-
July 29, 2009 at 6:44 pm #129975
The H8000 is not so picky. My understanding is that it will read a FAT32 card, but cannot reformat it as FAT32.
To my knowledge, you can only reformat a CF card as FAT on a PC – I could be wrong as there may be utilities to do this, but I have no knowledge. Sorry.
Maybe you have some dull friends with PCs ?
-
July 29, 2009 at 8:25 pm #129980jcshirkeParticipant
Hmm…Ok.
I have a Viking Interworks 128 MB compact flash card. My Mac tells me (via Disk Utility) that it's in MS-DOS format. No idea if that means FAT or FAT 32, however. There is no option to reformat specifically to FAT in Disk Utility.
So, should I try to hook up my card reader to a PC via USB and reformat? I'm not sure how to do it, but I suppose I can figure it out.
My hunch is that this card is in FAT format already. It's an old card. And it's small (128 MB). I was under the impression that only newer, larger cards were FAT32.
Is my other option to go out and buy a new card?
Thanks,
Jeff
-
July 29, 2009 at 9:16 pm #129983
You don't actually say that you're having a problem, but I assume that you are.
At the risk of repetition, MS-DOS could mean either FAT or FAT32. Regular Mac software does not have the ability to specify FAT as a format type – you have to use a PC.
For the reasons you mention, your 128M card is probably FAT. But you can't be sure. If you are having the problem where the update fails during "V2.04 Software Update Utility" you probably have a card problem – there are other possible issues besides FAT32.
Cards are cheap enough that a new one is probably affordable. But, you can't buy small ones any more, so a big one may also be FAT32. And so you go round again.
Probably the only answer is a card reader on a PC. The irony is that V4.0 fixes all these problems !!
-
July 29, 2009 at 9:52 pm #129984jcshirkeParticipant
I mentioned my specific problem in another thread you replied to.
In any case, it was not a card problem at all. What I had to do–as others also had to do–was to upgrade from v.3.0 to 3.5 first, and *then* upgrade to 4.0. Now everything works.
Thanks,
Jeff
-
July 29, 2009 at 10:05 pm #129986
That is mysterious. I suspect we had assumed that people would be upgrading from 3.5 and had not heavily tested the 3.0 route. We can look into it, but at least you seem to have moved on.
Hope you like it !!

possible bug – preset number 125 – adjusting t_delay does not change delay time, either in the master section or the individual rev1/rev2 sections

-
August 3, 2009 at 7:52 pm #129999cyanosaurusParticipant
I can't find that problem here in my Eclipse v4.0B1. Adjusting t_delay from the "hot keys" changes also t_delay on the master and rev1/rev2. Adjusting t_delay from the master changes it also on the rev1/rev2 and "hot keys".
Sometimes text doesn't fit properly on the screen… for example on that preset #125:
125 DualReverse10 t_delay: 1/2 not
I think that the parameter information could be located some more pixels to the left.
While loading a new preset there is sometimes music occuring on the output… even if nothing has been played for a moment and everything has been silent. It's like something was recorded on the memory and then the machine plays some last audio out for a very short moment while changing preset.
There are some real treasures among those new presets! 🙂 I'm hooked.

I love 4.0.
Years ago I wrote a melody using the Roland VG-8 the preset being VeryEFX.
I have noticed the same tuning on the Eclipse the preset being GTR Rig #1.
Nice to have it there.
And you thought no one would notice?
Thanks
