getting bad sav with the beta firmware

  Full details please – what did you do, what happened, what should have happened ? Etc.

  saved a patch to a bank, got "bad sav" in the LCD status. It's pretty obvious what should have happened.
  
  Patch was a vintage delay, xbits=12

  That helps. It's very hard/impossible to diagnose the problems with minimal information – the more the better.
  
  This message could come from either a hardware or software problem. We have no reports of this as a software problem with the beta release so a hardware issue is more likely.
  
  You don't say how many times this happened, so it may have been a glitch or a real problem. Try copying any saved presets you need to keep somewhere safe (FactorLib ?), and then doing a "Restore Factory Effects Presets and System Settings" as described on p.41 of the TF User Manual.
  
  If you still get this problem, the unit needs to be looked at.

  no, not a hardware problem. No problems with the 2.x rev of the firmware.

  The latest version of the software saves presets in a different place which has not been used before.
  
  You should probably go back to the previous version and stay there.
