H8000FW not starting up!

  We have an H8000FW at work which needs to be sent out on a gig this weekend but upon turning it on for testing it did not start up properly….
  
  The initial message says 'Internal Memory Unprogrammed'
  
  This message is followed by the Test sequence menu (we've tried the test sequence but gave up on it after a few hours of running).
  
  When we quit the test sequence it shows a repeating series of error messages with the option to <reboot> (pressing reboot simply moves it onto the next error message).
  
  We've also tried using the 'secret keys' as the unit starts up to skip the test process but this didn't help.
  
  This led us to believe that it must be a software issue (possibly that the internal drive had somehow been wiped the last time it was sent out). We therefore downloaded the latest software and put it onto a flash card, and followed the instructions provided on the eventide website for how to carry out the update. This was unsuccessful for most of the afternoon, after trying different FW versions from the download page and formatting the flash card etc.
  
  Eventually it did work a little bit, in that it ran from 0% to 100% of transferring the FW from the card to the unit. But after that OUPDATE gave the option of <restart> or <done> both of which just took us back to a repeating error report sequence.
  
  Any help or advise anyone can give us on this would be greatly appreciated 🙂

  It's probably related to the battery that powers the internal memory – this may have come loose, or need to be replaced. Unfortunately it is not easy to get at – it is underneath the FireWire board, which is a little fiddly to remove.

  We had already tried checking out the battery and all was fine on that front…
  
  Good new though 😀 after spending a good 12 hours on trying to fix it with various software versions etc. and trawling thorugh these forums, we finally found what the problem was…The u106 chip needed a little push back into place (we also pressed all the other chips t make sure so it could have easily been one of them as well or instead).
  
  The unit is fully functioning again now, and in time for the weekend 😀

  Glad you are up and running. We've had a few problems with U106, and latest production has it soldered directly to the board. Also, make sure that all the motherboard mounting screws are installed – there are some under the firewire board which can be overlooked.
