I did eventually get the updater to work but not in Leopard (10.5.8) I had to go to another computer in my house that has Tiger 10.4.11 installed where the updater opened up fine and worked without a hitch. It would never open at all on Leopard, it spun for a sec then immediately quit and some error message came up saying it had to unexpectedly close and did I want to report this to Apple.

Not sure what was going on but at least I'm updated now!
