      Hi people. I know, Dsp 4000 is obsolete, old, can let me down in seconds, but i love it.

      I’m not a newbie: I have some issues running right now and i hope someone from Eventide or here could help me

      At start up, after all tests (no problems here) I got there error codes: illegal_instruction (rarely) OR address Error (rarely)

      Or: Suggest Power Down – host HC error (any key to continue but nothing happens when I press a button) and sometimes after this error “host timeout” comes out. Every time no matter what I do or what error code comes out, input levels light on at full red all the time.

      I tried to push 8 or minus – or cxl or program at startup, nothing changes. One on 15 power up power down cycles I can go thru and I can change patches.

      Last thing: no sound at all from outs

      Please help me

      As you mention, the DSP4000 is obsolete (and long out of our formal support abilities). That said, it sounds like your unit has some serious hardware issues.  Did you acquire it recently? Was it correctly for you in the past?

      Thanks for the response, I will keep in touch with the germans. I bought it one week ago and I was aware of a screen (ccfl ) light issue. As the owner said “it worked” (screen apart). Just one question: I pulled out the broken lamp, could be this one the main issue that stop preset loading? Do I need to replace the screen before power up? Thanks

      Hello,

      I can’t comment on how a broken lamp will affect the unit’s operation. From your earlier comment, it’s not clear if you’ve performed the factory reset/initialize boot sequence correctly. Please see below:

      Initializing the DSP4000 series

      First power the unit off. Then press and hold the 8 key while powering the unit on. Continue holding down the 8 key while watching the display and you will notice a message appear “Release Key Now”, do so but then immediately hold down the 8 key again. Continue to do so until you see the message: Do you really want to lose all stored information? Select yes and then the unit will initialize. Upon completion it should load and display the “Empty Program”.

      Sorry, but I don’t have much further to suggest besides the above information, or contacting someone else for a repair.

      Thanks, and yes (hold the 8 thing): at this point I guess there’s a front panel issue, since push buttons do not work at all and if I pull out the strip (the second, little one on the right,) nothing changes. Thanks for the heads up

      Update: this is happening at “initializing”
