I just purchased the H90 and I want to use it in conjunction with a Two Note Opus (modelling preamp and IR loader). Ideally, I would like to use the Opus as a mono insert and have the ability to create presets where the algorithms may both be in front, both behind, or split around this insert. What is the ideal way to wire up a single mono insert with stereo outs via the H90s back panel?

      Congrats on the new H90!

Input/Output 3 on the H90 will correspond to Insert 1. You can connect your guitar to H90 input 1, and connect outputs 1-2 for a stereo output.

It is similar to what is described here, just only using 1 mono insert: https://cdn.eventideaudio.com/manuals/h90/1.8.6/content/setup/two-mono-inserts.html

You can then use the routing page to determine where the insert will be, and save your Program with that insert routing. When that Program is loaded again, it will load with the correct insert routing.

Let me know if that clears things up.

I would like to run the Opus with one algorithm on each side and be able to output via stereo.

Guitar > Algorithm 1 > Opus > Algorithm 2 > Stereo Output to mixer or audio interface

Is this possible in Dual mode or does it require the Opus being used as an Insert?

      Thanks again.

It is also possible using Dual Mode:

      Guitar > H90 input 1

      H90 output 1 > Opus input

      Opus output > H90 input 3

      H90 output 3/4 > Stereo amp/monitors

I would suggest using Insert mode instead since it is more flexible; you can put the Opus before Preset A or after Preset B. This would not be possibly in the Dual Routing configuration. But I encourage you to try it either way and see what you like.

Make sure you are switching the Global Routing mode from Insert to Dual when you are experimenting with this.

I was thinking about running it with Dual because it would cut down on latency and (I might be wrong here) it would still pass signal with through the OPUS without a preset being activated. The issue with Insert mode is that I would have to create a patch with nothing activated but the OPUS to get a dry signal.

You can use AB Bypass mode and this will leave the insert active when the Program is bypassed: https://cdn.eventideaudio.com/manuals/h90/1.8.6/content/system-menu/global.html

Latency would be about the same if you are using 1 insert vs going through both paths of the H90.

You will need to enable Insert 1 for each Program to go through the Opus, so you may prefer the Dual Mode setup if you don’t want to do that.
