ParticipantHello, Everyone,
I use a number of pedals for studio effects and one of the things I do is automate the the parameters as the pedals were plugins. On the ones that transmit MIDI, I can move the physical control and capture those changes in Logic then tweak those changes and play them back into the pedal. I have an H90 that is connected USB and I have set everything for MIDI to transmit. In the editor, I can set the parameter I wish to change to it’s own CC number, but when I adjust the parameter, Logic only sees 1 0 0 (channel 1, CC 0, value 0) with an X in front (normally there is a down arrow to signify it is receiving MIDI). If I make a track and send MIDI values changes to that same parameter’s CC number it receives the MIDI data and is changed along with the session playback. For the MIDI out to actually transmit, does this occur only through the DIN connection?
Thanks!
Paul

Hi Paul,
The H90 does not transmit MIDI via USB. It only receives MIDI. It’s best to use the DIN MIDI connections for what you’re trying to do.

ParticipantWell, that sucks. It’s crammed in tight on a rack shelf and there is no way to access the DIN connector without redoing a number of things. Not sure why MIDI can’t transmit on USB as well like every MIDI controller that exists (that I know of). Seems like that would have been a given in the design process.
Oh well. I shall overcome…

Can it receive on the USB while also transmitting on the DIN?

If the H90 is being controlled via USB, the only messages it will pass on via DIN MIDI are program changes, not CC messages. If the H90’s MIDI output is set to transmit and you initiate commands from the H90 and aux switches and expression pedals connected to it, you can transmit PC and CC messages from the H90.
