In Performance Mode, what is the best method to record a loop at normal speed, and then have the playback speed assigned to the Hot Knob so that you can increase OR decrease the speed?
Currently I have a Looper set to – Max Length: 60 Sec / Rec Speed: 2X / Resolution: Smooth / Play Speed: 200 . (The Play Speed Ctl Source is set to Hot Knob P)
After I hit REC and then PLAY on the foot switches, the HK P reads 100 and I can slow down the loop by reducing that number, but I cannot speed up the loop.
I have tried setting the record speed to X1 but this just yields a faster playback speed at HK 100. Setting the Play Speed lower just yields a slower initial playback speed.
I am searching for the setting that will record and playback at real time speed then allow the HK to start at a center point that will allow you to speed up or slow down from real time.
Running 1.9.11.211

I think I see where you’re going with this, but I’m not in front of the Looper to confirm it. So, from memory, something to try out:
- Max Length: 120 Sec / Rec Speed: 1X / Resolution: Smooth
- Bind the full range of Play Speed to HotKnob P as your control source.
- Dial HotKnob P to Play Speed = 100.
A return-to-center control (like Pitch Wheel) would be ideal for this, if that was supported. It might be difficult to hold position at 100 with an EXP pedal & smooth resolution. But it illustrates the option of external control over HotKnob P, which in turn will control the Play Speed.

With Play Speed set to 200, which is maxed out, there is no way for the playback speed to go faster. For this to work, I would set Play Speed to 100, which is the normal starting off point for a basic loop. I would set your record speed to 1X. You will need to readjust your Max Length back to 60 sec. (because adjusting the Rec Speed changes the length).
After I hit REC and then PLAY on the foot switches, the HK P reads 100 and I can slow down the loop by reducing that number, but I cannot speed up the loop.
Because a parameter like Play Speed has an unusual range of values from -200 to paused to 200, I would not recommend using the Hotknob to control it. Use a Quick Knob assigned to Play Speed and you will find you can go in any direction and with more precision.
