That was the quick ‘n’ dirty reply.  Let me know if you need me to add anything more specific.  PolySynth is a deep algorithm, brilliantly implemented, though.

Lots of control parameters, but manageable if you have any background with synths.  The best tactic is to get an overall general sound that’s fairly close to what you’re after.  Then start detailing it with the interactive parameters.

To put it another way:

  • Single sawtooth (for brass) – level 2 & 3 down.
  • Cutoff up – resonance low.  Slightly slowed-down Attack.
  • Then start folding in the two Env controls to taste.
  • At this point, bring up the other two oscillator levels – sawtooth, maybe Pulse.
  • Then start adding in the bells ‘n’ whistles – modulation, detune, spread.
  • With the LFO, a little amount goes a long way.  PWM for an ensemble effect.
  • If you have an expression pedal (or use the HotSwitches), great way to add varations & animation to your effect.
