I confirm it’s the same…I don’t understand… The manual is not helpful on the topic.
Thanks. I knew holding would break.
Why nowhere is what you wrote in the manual? Also, we should know what the factor is. For example I set 6Hz, so the slow will be? 1.5Hz (as per Brock’s statement)?
I also figured the slow/fast issue when you use H9 control. Basically the interface doesn’t sync well with the unit, especially if you toggle multiple times in a short span of time.
At some point the unit is maybe on slow, while the interface is on fast…reloading the preset syncs again, but of course it doesn’t stay that way.
So the best option is having an expression pedal (Luckily I have a DVP4) and use that instead. That way you choose the range and control the ramp speed with your foot.
Otherwise the second best option is having an external switch (I think I’ll get a Boss FS-7, which is the most versatile for my needs).
Other thoughts on the H9 unit
In 2025 we can’t seriously have a mini usb port. It’s time to upgrade.
The tap tempo switch should be assignable to functions like hotswitch and slow/fast where tap tempo is not needed.
In this time of digital, there should be a full routing with N effects usable at the same time (but not the mess that came out with the H90). It should be plain and simple, like Axe FX.
The unit should have a stereo fx loop (usable as dual mono even) to basically be able to place the unit in your fx chain (especially since you intend the user to use all the algorithms, like distortion, bit crusher, compressor that should be before modulations). That in 2025 would unleash the full power of such a (potentially) good multi fx pedal.
Other thoughts on the H9 effects
Flanger => Missing feedback parameter + I would let the user choose between slow/fast or hotswitch, because for most scenarios I think hotswitch would be more useful
Phaser => Missing feedback parameter
Rotary => Missing ramp time and slow time (This is a very nice rotary BTW, one of the best tried so far)
Chorus => Missing an “ensemble mode” (adding basically a second differently phased modulation on top – I know you can maybe achieve the same with the trichorus, but probably not the same)
Delay => Missing a clear interface to decide the delays routing (parallel, panned, series). I honestly didn’t get what goes on when you set A/B at 50 (might it be that the repeats are counter-phased so they “cancel” each other?).
Vintage delay => Interface not very clear, I would have preferred something like an Echorech basically (switches for the N heads) and I would add a couple of heads + swell mode
Space reverb / Trichorus / Pitchfactor => These are probably the best effects in the unit
Bitcrusher / Comp / Others => Not a fan of this kind of effects (I like comps, but not digital ones).
H9 Control
- Should allow multiple selection of presets to copy-paste (or delete) them more easily across lists and devices
- The drag&drop is too slow, you have to click and then move and you have to center precisely when you want to just move, instead of overwriting (basically overwriting is too easy, and would be pointless if you had multiple selection)
- Overall slow load/save experience
