Sorry for this (simple) question… maybe it is already somewhere in the forum, but I did not find it.

I am thinking of buying an Eventide H90.

I definetely need a normal lowpass filter controlled via expression pedal. Best would be one with resonance.
I already asked in other specialized forums but no clear answere yet. I do not want a Wha and do not need it with a synth… only a pure filter function.

Can anyone tell me if the H90 has a lowpass (or highpass) filter function via the EQ or via modulation?

It has modulation but I am not sure if you can turn all waveforms of and only use the treble cut (lowpass filter) with an expression pedal.

      Thanks a lot.

(Now I am using a Dr Scientist Dusk for this … but some pedals should go with the H90 😉 )

      Hello,

You can accomplish lowpass/highpass using ModFilter: https://cdn.eventideaudio.com/manuals/h90/1.7.1/content/algorithms/modulation.html#modfilter

There is built in modulation, but if you set Shape to Manual and map an expression pedal to the Manual Mod parameter, now you have a filter controlled via expression pedal.

You could also use the Dusk as an insert in the H90, and put your filter before/between/after any of the H90’s presets.

Perfect, thank you. I guessed that it might be that way… but Manual Mod did not mention any expression pedal.

Now I am ready to purchase the machine.

(I will sell the Dr Scientist Dusk… an a few pedals more).

The Eventide H90 seems to be the right idea to get rid of some stuff… but have more effects… plus routing existing effects / preamps to have different sounds with one step…

      Looking forward…

You’re welcome. To clarify, any of the H90’s algorithm parameters can be mapped to an expression pedal, MIDI, etc. Many of the modulation and other algorithms have the “manual mod” parameter, which allows the external controller to be mapped directly to a parameter such as direct control of an LFO or filter cutoff.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Super cool tip! A low Depth value with a slow Speed and Shape = Sine gives it a nice subtle motion too. Is there a way to change the resonance?

Yes, Depth controls a combination of base filter frequency and resonance, so you may have to tweak this a bit to get the right sound you are looking for.

Oh, I am keeping Depth near zero and sweeping the filter by mapping Intensity to the HotKnob. Bringing Depth up too high makes the LFO move the frequency, which isn’t really what I want. Is there a different way to approach this?

Since those controls are linked, you’ll need to experiment to find a setting you like. There are no other ways to approach this using ModFilter.

There are other algorithms that you may find are better for what you are trying to do. You could try Q-Wah or Band Delays. Head Space also has a great sounding filter.
