My H9 was crashing when attempting to save presets, so I attempted a firmware update. It crashed halfway through and now it’s bricked.
On power up it flashes all LEDs, says “UPDATE” and then goes dark.
The Direct Updater doesn’t see it – it just says ‘searching’ – though my mac sees the device as connected over USB in the System Information utility.
Is there anything to be done other than send it in for servicing?
Thanks for any help – was planning to use this for a gig this week.

Sorry this is giving you problems. The fact that the display goes out is troubling, indicative of a power problem maybe. Only thing I can recommend is powering up the pedal while pressing the top left Hotknob button. This boots up the pedal in UPDATE mode. Connect the pedal via USB to a computer. Use the Eventide Device Manager to see if it detects the pedal. If so, reinstall the latest version of the firmware. Once that is complete, I would conduct a factory reset by holding down the big encoder and the right footswitch while powering up. Keep in mind this erases all presets and system settings, so I hope you have a backup. Let us know if this does not work.

Thanks for the reply.
Powering on while pressing Hotknob brought the pedal back to life. It
now operates as it did before. However– the Updater app never sees the pedal, whether started normally or
while holding Hotknob.– I still have the problem where attempting to save a preset crashes
the device (the display goes dark, or just freezes).I tried the factory reset, which appeared to work. But the problems
above persist. So it’s not happy. What would you suggest?

Does the pedal display the word UPDATE when you turn it on while pressing the Hotknob button (not the big encoder)?

Yes.

If the Eventide Device Manger (not H9 Control) cannot see the H9 while in update mode, the only thing left to do is contact support@eventide.com for further guidance.

Hey there.
I’m having the exact same issue.Did you manage to find a solution?

I ended up sending it to Eventide for repair.

damn.
mine was working perfectly fine until I tried to update it.

Mine was not. The only reason I was trying to update it was to see if it would resolve the issue – it was already on the latest firmware.

Hello,
I would recommend trying the update again with the Eventide Direct Updater on a computer via a USB connection. The application is available at the following links:
Mac OS Â Â https://www.eventideaudio.com/downloads?id=101109
Windows https://www.eventideaudio.com/downloads?id=101088
Get the unit into Update Mode by powering it up while holding down the HotKnob button at the top left of the unit. If successful, you will see UPDATE on the display. If you can do that, then please try to update the software on the unit to see if it helps. Make sure you are using the Eventide power supply when attempting the update. Let me know what happens./////////////
