Hi all,
Before I pull the trigger on an H9 (or maybe even the H90), can you help me understand if it can do this use case? Let me explain…
At home I have a coupe tube amps I play (Amp1 and Fender SS 22) and I also can switch over to the Line 6 Stomp XL. I play the Stomp through studio monitors. I would like to have the H9 in the Amp1 or Fender’s effect loop (almost exclusively for modulation, delay or reverb) AND AT THE SAME TIME, be connected to the Stomp XL’s effects loop. I almost never play the two “amps” at the same time, but I could…I just don’t. What I am trying to avoid is moving cables around to get it to work as I switch back and forth between the tube amps and the modeler.
I’m almost certain the H9 (and H90) can do this…but please confirm. AND, can you confirm if the H9 output from the H9 would be in stereo to the monitors from the Stomp?
Assuming yes, can someone also explain how does the H9 know that I want the sounds to be routed to INPUT/OUTPUT #1 vs #2? That’s the part I’m not 100% sure about.
Thank you for the help.

Hi Adam,
The H9 has a Pre/Post capability that allows you to use I/O 1 for PRE and I/O 2 for POST. If you connect your amp’s FX loop to I/O 1 and connect your HX Stomp’s FX Loop to I/O 2 you’ll be able to switch which amp/cab setup your affecting by choosing PRE or POST in the algorithms Menu on the H9. In order switch between the two routing mode, you need to use the H9 Control app.
The H90 makes it easier. It has a Dual routing mode that makes the H90 behave like to independant mono or stereo effects processors. So Path 1 could be connected to your amp’s FX loop, while Path 2 could be connected to the HX Stomp. You can have one playlist for amp FX and another playlist for HX Stomp effects. Switching between them can be done on the pedal or the H90 Control app.

Hi again, now you have me thinking about the H90 more. So let’s expand on this….
Is it possible then to connect the H90 to the tube amps via 4CM or so other way to enable the tube amps to have pre-H90 effects AND post-H90 effects in the loop AND ALSO be able to connect to the HX Somp?
I think there are enough ins and outs. Can that work? If so, that’s having your cake and getting to eat it!!

Ok. Cake is still good even if you can’t eat it …
