With the H90, by default MIDI program change messages load programs within a Bank, so selecting 1, 2, or 3 on the MIDI device loads programs 1, 2, or 3 in Bank 1. In my use case, I want to load Bank 1, 2, or 3, etc., when my MIDI device sends 1, 2, or 3, etc.

The reason: With the H90 in Bank mode, I can use the H90 foot switches to load any of the three programs within a given bank. I want to load a bank for each song via MIDI, and load variations for that song via the three H90 switches.

        Is this possible?

Does your MIDI device send MIDI CC messages?  If so, I see a way using the Global Mapping Chart.

One CC (value 64-127) to Enter Back Mode, if needed.  A pair of CC mappings for Bank Up & Bank Down (values at 64-127).  Perhaps one more if you want to exit back out to Select Mode.  Some combination of those – plus the 3 onboard switches – should get you there.

Mappable in the pedal System – MIDI -> Global Ctl , or the larger overview in H90 Control -> System -> External Control.

Thanks Brock! I’m currently using a Voodoo Lab pedal switcher that sends only MIDI program change data to an H9 on my pedalboard, and no CC messages. The H9 Control app makes it simple to assign any H9 program to any program number on the switcher. I was hoping I could do the same thing with the H90, but it looks like I’d have to arrange my H90 programs sequentially to match the switcher program numbers.

The H90 banks are a nice idea in other ways, but it appears there’s no way to arbitrarily assign any H90 program to a given position on the switcher. I love the sounds in the H90, but the H9 program lists are more flexible for what I’m doing. I’ll have to rethink this before I can replace my H9 with the H90.

Point taken.  I’m familiar with both (but not the Voodoo).  Yes, no H90 MIDI remapping.  Myself, I manually re-arrange on the receiving end, even with the H9s, but different strokes.  I can see the advantages.  But I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention small, relatively cheap external devices as another option.

MIDI Solutions Event Processor was the O.G. in pedalboard-friendly hardware.  A smaller, easier to program, less costly device might be some version of CME U-xx-MIDI boxes ($40-50 USD, at least at the moment).  Versatility well beyond simple MIDI PC re-mapping.  But what I was thinking was converting 2 or 3 ‘spare’ MIDI PCs into Bank Mode, Bank Up, Bank Down MIDI CCs.  That would get you your Bank Mode & onboard access to the 3 Programs at a time.

No affiliation with anyone.  Just trying to get you from here to there.
