Hi,
I just got myself an H90 (I loved the H9, but sold it a few years ago when I needed cash) – seems like its a super powerful unit. So I want to make sure I am setting it up with my other pedals and such to maximise its use. At the moment I am treating the H90 as a Post-pre-amp FX unit eg: Strymon Riverside > Friedman IR-X > H90 > stereo out to two FRFR cabs. However, there a number of algorithms that would be better/usable into the front of the IR-X. But there are also really great 2 agorithm programs that work great in Post.(Chorus + Delay for example). In Dual routing, it would seem I can only have 1 Algo before and after the pre-amp, so would I loose the use of those great postFX programs in that setup?
I could setup the IR-X as an insert within the H90, but when I did that and disabled the unit all my tone disapeared (as expected). Which kind of bothers me a bit…
So just wondering which is the best way to go…or have I overlooked another setup that could work? Ideally, would be great to use the pre/post fx idea, but still be able to use the twin algorithm in post when needed. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice!

It is true, you only have two Presets total; so, they can be configured as two presets in Path 1 (Pre), or two presets in Path 2 (Post), or one preset on each path. These can be stored on a Program basis.
I could setup the IR-X as an insert within the H90, but when I did that and disabled the unit all my tone disapeared (as expected).
In the System Menu > Global > P Bypass, you can set this to “AB Only,” and when you bypass the Program it will keep your insert loops open. Make sure you’re on the latest software version of the H90.

Thanks for the reply.
It would seem that both routing options offer me a solution then, which is great! I will update the latest software and see how I get on. Appreciate the prompt response 🙂

Back again…
I’ve downloaded the 1.7.11 Control App for my Mac M1. Its found the H90 ok, but when I try to update the unit its gives me a firmware error as shown.
Thanks for any help!

You have downloaded the latest stable version of H90 Control (1.7.11) – good. Do not try to update to software 1.9.4 as this is beta software and requires a different version of H90 Control. For your version, search for software version 1.8.6. By clicking “All releases,” you should see it in the list of available firmware.

Hello,
First, if you’d like to use the 1.9.4 public beta software for the H90, you’ll need to use H90 Control public beta 1.8.6. Please download that version of H90 Control and attempt the update again.
If you still have issues, email support@eventideaudio.com and we can help you further there.

Thanks – I’ve tried that and got the same error unfortunately. I have emailed support as suggested.
