H9000 analog inputs 1 and 2

The H9000 maual states that the rear panel XLR analog connectors are a duplicate “mult” of channels 1 and 2 on the DSUB connectors. I understand how this works for the analog outputs. How does this work for the inputs? If signal is present both on the XLR and the DSUB inputs 1 and 2, are they summed? If so, actively or passively?

The XLRs and DSUB 1/2 are different connections to the same inputs.  They aren't really intended to be used simultaneously.
