Hi,
I need a little help upgrading my Eclipse please?
I've downloaded both v3.10 and v3.51 but am not having any joy upgrading.
I've formatted a Compact Flash card with 'FAT' file system, and powered on whilst holding down the Number 1 key on the keypad, nothing happens…
I've looked in the "Setup -> Service" section and found the following information:
System: 1.200
Modules: 1.200
Algs: 1.200
Presets: 1.200
FPGA: 1.100
Hardware: Verion A
I've read the pdf about the bootloader issue, but even when powering on whilst holding down the Number 3 key on the keypad, nothing happens…
What do I need to do?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Rusty
I would first format the card in Eclipse, under SETUP.
There are 2 methods to update the system:
-using a PC and a serial cable
-using a PC + an USB compact flash card reader (faster)
download the zipped archive named "Eclipse Software Version 3.51"
unzip it and copy the files to the card directly. DON'T use any folder! Juat copy them to the card as they are.
Insert the card and power the unit on while pressing & holding the 1 key.

my suggestion to format the card in Eclipse is ok for small capacities cards (16 to 128 MB cards). To format bigger cards (or just about any capacity card below 4 GB):
You need a suitable USB CF card reader.
The the card will show up under "My Computer" as a "Removable Disk".
Right-click on the name and you will get a menu with a list of options, one of which is "Format".
Set "File system" to FAT, rather than the default "FAT32". Check "Quick Format". Then hit "Start". Takes about 20 seconds.
When it is complete, right click the name again and select "Eject" and remove the card.
….as Nick recently pointed out….

Hi Italo,
I've formatted the card via my pc, it's a 4gb card, and I can save and load presets without a problem.
But when powering on the Eclipse, with or without card, holding down the 1 or 3 key on the numeric keypad seems to have no effect…
Is there a chance that a different procedure was used to update from version 1.2?
I don't have a serial cable atm, otherwise I'd do it that way.
PS: "Setup -> Mode -> Protect" is set to Off.
Thanks,

let's check if your bootloader is working correctly or if it needs updates.
Remove the card from Eclipse and try powering it while pressing the 1 key. Try againg with the 2 key. In both cases the unit should boot into different update modes. Please report the unit behaviour on these tests.
thank you

Hi Italo,
>> let's check if your bootloader is working correctly or if it needs updates.
Sounds good.
>> Remove the card from Eclipse and try powering it while pressing the 1 key.
I have removed the card, and holding down the 1 key on power up:
(1 beep)
Loading Operating System
Powering on 1.200
Loading Processing Code
Initialising
Loading Program
>> Try againg with the 2 key.
I have removed the card, and holding down the 2 key on power up:
(1 beep)
Loading Operating System
Powering on 1.200
Loading Processing Code
Initialising
Loading Program
>> In both cases the unit should boot into different update modes. Please report the unit behaviour on these
tests.
As above, plus I have removed the card, and holding down the 3 key on power up:
Doesn't seem to be any difference?

Rusty

Ok. Good tests!
Looks like your unit needs to have its bootloader updated.
Please contact me offlist and I'll walk you thru the procedure.
