Yes, if you create a list and populate custom presets in the first 7 slots and then download it to the pedal, it will overwrite those presets.

If you’re concerned with erasing factory presets, I recommend backing up your pedal to a list on H9 Control. That way, you can always go back to it by simply reloading it into the pedal.

Another recommendation is to perhaps find a group of presets you don’t care for, say for example 90-99 and use those for your show.

What I like to do is create a preset list for my show and load it into the pedal. Let’s use your example, presets 1-7. Then, I purposely limit the pedal to only go from preset number 1 through 7, so if I try to go passed number 7, it automatically goes back to 1. You can do this in H9 Control. After my show, I load all 99 presets back into the pedal for studio work or whatever, and reset the limits back to 1 – 99.

Using Barn3 ox9s to advance incrementally. Needing 7 separate algs/settings.

If I create this list via the app and send it to the pedal it will erase (overwrite) the first 7 factory algs?

Isn’t there a separate place to save these?

(and, yes, each chorus has a certain purpose and matching instrument)

Thank you for the reply, and Merry Christmas!

So, if I am understanding this correctly:

I download all the factory presets separately via the app from the two H9s to my device (iPad Pro).  The device is now essentially the master file, master control and organizer for all factory and custom algorithms.  I can create and push custom settings or lists to the stompbox (overwriting the factory ones on the box only) from the device.  The stompbox is essentially now just a slave to receive and facilitate those settings to an instrument.  Granted, those settings offer millions of options and combinations.  And if the device has a fatal error I may lose my custom stuff but the H9s can be restored to their original presets via the reboot/button combo.  Sound about right?  BTW, the H9 Max Dark is bringing out another side of my playing…feeling a bit evil now…

      Thank you! Likewise.

Yes. But it’s also possible to edit and store directly on the front panel of the H9 as well, and back those sounds up later.

If your device has a fatal error, yes, you may lose your lists; however, as a best practice, once you create a list, I recommend emailing it to yourself as a backup. There have been times where I left my iPad at home, but because I had the H9 preset list saved in an email, I was able to download it to my phone and use it there.

Note: Even though resetting the H9 works to recoup the factory presets, we also keep all the factory preset lists on the H9 web page, even the older versions.
