Everything went well with the first public beta, and I very much enjoyed the new algorithms. However, when I attempted to install the second beta release, eMote hangs after displaying the progress box with the text “H9000 Update Preparing to Install…” The progress display is halted at 0%. The display on my H9000 did not change but it now does not respond to button presses. I’m a little leery of power-cycling it but I’m going to have to do something soon.

      Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the issues you are having.

Are you able to quit/reopen Emote and connect to the H9000 again? If so, you could attempt the update via Emote again.

If not, you can try rebooting the H9000 and attempting the update again. It is likely that the update has not been sent to the H9000 from Emote if the H9000 isn’t displaying any update progress, so rebooting it shouldn’t cause any issues.

      Let me know what happens.

Hey, thanks for replying so quickly. Much appreciated. I figured that rebooting it would probably be okay but I wanted to hear from you first. I’ve written a bootloader, I know what’s at stake… 🙂

Anyway, the good news is that everything is sorted out here. I quit/reopened Emote (twice) but it would not find the H9000. I then power-cycled the H9000 and it booted up normally. Emote was then able to connect and everything appeared OK. I was then able to successfully install the new beta. Everything still looks good after the hardware rebooted again.

Thanks again. I’m enjoying the beta, particularly the new Polyphony pitch shifter, Wormhole, and the speed reduction on the fan.

Incidentally, the only guess I have about the cause of the hang the first time is that I may have launched my DAW while Emote was performing the update. Can’t say for sure that this was the case; honestly I was also updating another hardware device at the same time (but not via the computer) and I’m not sure of the exact sequence of events. It’s probably safe to say that not running the DAW while doing the update is a good idea. Lesson learned.
