On Monday morning(02/02/15),the courier brought me the H8000FW.
I opened the box with a lot of happiness and this happiness turned into sadness because i faced a lot of problems.1)the left down rack ear is bent. A LOT!!!
2)there is a protuberance(i don't know if this is the right word since i am not good in english)at the top panel.
3)at the bottom panel there is a broken screw inside the H8000FW.
AND HERE IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM:
First thing that i did when i opened the box,was to plugged it to the power to open it.
and when i turned on the power knob there was no result.
the H8000fw was dead!
i tried many times to open it and one time i hit it at the top panel(gently)and then it started.
the first times i tried to start it,it wad dead!
then, after the hit at the top panel,it started. That time i was in a: "what can i do now? mood" and the first person that came to my mind was Mr.Italo de Angelis.
an ex-Eventide employee who is a member at the same forum with me and
we are really lucky to have such a knowledge friend at our forum, who is always happy to help us!
I send an email to Italo and he responded to me very fast.
(Italo, your support all this years is priceless!!!
THANK YOU!)this is what he sent me:
sorry to hear that!
There's not much I can do for you other than remembering that a particular chip, the U106, used to be a little unstable to mechanical stress.
This was the case on Orville and may be the same for the H8000.
It may well be that the travelling of your H8000FW could have pushed the chip a bit out.You should disconnect the unit from the power. NO ELECTRICITY inside!!!
Open the top cover and locate the U106 chip, a large square chip behind the right side of the display.
Try pushing it in and also try pushing the connectors of all the flat wires… those large grey cables.
Maybe it will work.Other than that you can either talk to the seller and get your money back or contact support@eventide.com for servicing.
(the reason that i upload his email,is for help to other H8000fw users who may face the same problem)After the receiving of his email,i called a friend of mine who is a professor at the Department of Electronic Engineering to tell him my problem and if he can help me.
He came at my house the next day(Tuesday),he opened the H8000FW and he pushed this chip.
I heard a click when he pushed down the chip and then we turned the H8000 on.
the H8000fw opened but the screen was white.
only white.nothing else!
Then,we turned the H8000fw off and we try to open it again,
and then it started to work for all the time(for about an half an hour)that my friend was at my home.
He checked the H8000fw and we was the one who had noticed the broken screw at the bottom panel and the "protuberance"at the top panel.i had only noticed the left down rack ear that is bent.On Wednesday,i hadn't check the H8000fw since i had rehearsals.
and at the morning of the Thursday,i plugged the H8000fw and turned the power on with no results.it was dead again!
then i hit it gently on the top panel and the screen was white(it was powered and worked but with a white screen).again!
then i turned the power off and on again and it worked. Before ordering the H8000fw,i had asked from the seller to send me pictures of the H8000fw and at the pictures there was not a bended rack ear.
at the pictures,he had the H8000fw mounted in a rack case, and that's why i don't know if it's his fault during unmounting it,or by a hit during the shipment.Since the H8000fw costs a lot,i had asked him to make a video for me to show me the H8000fw during the startup and at the video that he had sent me there was not a problem with the H8000fw during the startup.
Plus i had a video call with him via skype, because i wanted to see the H8000fw in action before putting the money to his account and the H8000fw worked flawlessly.
I called the seller via skype and i told him the problems that i have.
He said to me that he is sure that there was neither of those problems when he had the H8000fw and when we had checked it together, and all this happened during the shipping.I remember when i received the box from the courier, that the box was a little bit shaken but I did not pay much attention…i was like the little child who find his gifts below the christmas tree and wants to open the box the faster and to play with the new present.
It has been shipped with the fedex.com and the other strange thing that i remember is that the courier didn't gave me to sign.I did a phone call to FedEx Greece, and the girl at the phone told me that there is nothing they can do because the seller hasn't made an insurance.
I have sent and email to support@eventide.com from Wednesday(04/02/15) and i am still waiting for your response…
What can i do?
because i want to mount the H8000FW at my upcoming touring rack and to travel with it.
i don't want to be on a tour and the H8000 to stop working!
i don't want to face problems during the live shows!
and the H8000fw is the crucial part of my rig! -

Hi Nikos
I am sorry you are having problems. My guess is that this is not a new unit (we have been aware of the U106 problem for a long time, and this part is now directly soldered to the board which solves the problem).
If I am correct, you should discuss this with the person from whom you bought it.
If I am incorrect, I apologize, and you should immediately return it to your dealer for a warranty claim.

No easy solutions, I'm afraid. If it is U106, what we do is to remove the socket and solder it directly to the board, but this requires special skills. (We had a batch of bad sockets).
You have the options I mentioned, or you could return it to a dealer or to Eventide for out of warranty repair.
