If you have the H9000r, do you wish you had the front panel? For those with the H9000 how often do you use the front panel and was it worth the extra cash?

Yes, I wish I had the front panel, cause there is a chance that the machine lost connection and you need a reboot to solve it. The chance is rare but it’s there.

I got one with a panel for less than I was budgeting for the H9000R, so happy with that.

The only thing I really used the panel for was exporting custom algorithms, but that can now be done with emote. It’s also been handy for testing custom algorithms, but for use in the mix, emote is easier and better than the front panel.

I have an H9000R and don’t miss the panel. Emote works well for me.

I do miss any kind of update to the product over the last 12 months.

Same here for the H9000R, I love it, the screen isn’t needed as Emote is rocking out fine. (You can control it remotely with a tablet via WIFI if you don’t want to use a computer).

And I really want to see the updates ASAP.

Wait, what? How are you controlling it with a tablet?

I have a Microsoft Surface Go (Windows touch screen Tablet) on which I installed the Emote software. That and a WIFI dongle will do the trick.

One may use Wifi dongle in H9000R and add Wifi to it?  I have MS Surface Pro and consider to buy H9000 or H9000R.

The Wifi dongle comes with the H9000 and H9000R  it ships in the box.

Thanks. So, is that so that H9000R and Win tablet like MS Surface Pro (Win tablet 2in1 – it has also detachable keyboard and touch pen) is probably (from user perspective) more user friendly solution than just H9000? One may have “tablet” at hand and use it as sort of remote and H9000R/H9000 may be placed somewhere out of direct reach.

Emote is a much more user friendly interface than the front panel, and editing remotely is always good.  I normally launch emote as a VST from within my Ableton session when I’m using the unit on music (as opposed to developing new algorithms, where I normally use the standalone Emote which is quicker than launching Ableton first).  The only 2 reasons to get a front panel is if you need to edit things in a rack, such as a mobile rig, or to ensure that you can keep operating the unit if Eventide stops Emote support for future OS’s.

I liked it for changing FX chains at gigs, although now I use MIDI and the scenes feature to do that. Still nice as a fallback.

I’ve also run into a couple bugs where emote couldn’t do something but the front panel could, namely adding algorithm loading scenes and setting gain levels for inputs other than 1-8.

Is this still valid, or has it been already fixed?

AFAIK Those haven’t been fixed yet.

They haven’t but they are also pretty niche things you’re unlikely to run into.
