      Hello there,

Has anybody knocked up a resonator patch simulating the pitched pulses of Steve Reich ?

I think we’re going to need quite a few more H90s to play that piece.  Something like the Reed-Piano-Violin Phase pieces might be an easier place to start.

Interesting concept, though.  Using the Resonator to simulate mallet instrumentation and the core motif.  I suppose you’d need two instances in parallel for process music like this.

I have done something similar with doubled-up Loopers and parallel Presets of UltraTap.  Nearly identical instances, with the phasing controlled by an expression pedal mapped to one of them.  A HotKnob would work even better, for the desktop jockeys with two hands free.

No Tempo Mode; it’s a bit too coarse for the fine gradients you need to pull it off smoothly.  And not too ‘wide’ of a range in milliseconds, either.  It’s more controllable to limit how far the phasing offset travels.

      Hey brock,

Yes I see where you are going with the 2 loopers slightly out of synch.

I can leave without this infection, I am not the interested in the poly rhythm aspect.

I am more after the chordal pulses that come and go like waves. That is why I am thinking resonator.

I could have 2 in parallel indeed, and maybe even have a couple of programs so I can go back and forth between 2 settings…

I might also throw in an Ondulator…

One nice way to build the ‘waves’ is to map the Resonance to an expression pedal or HotKnob.  Then bring them in & out from zero to extremely Negative (or Positive) resonance.  I’ve made a sequencer with deep filter sweeping in that way.

Another thing you might try is putting Harmadillo in front of the Resonator.  Sync the tremolo speed to the resonant ‘notes’, and accent them hard with a Pulse Shape.  The notes will start to blur when you switch Shapes to a Sine wav, for example.

I will give the Harmadillo a go thanks 😉
