I recently bought an Eventide H90 to fill out my Pedalboard for modulation effects. My Pedalboard is mainly used in the studio. I use mixer sends a pair of stereo signals to the pedalboard, and then returns to the FX track of the Mixer for my multiple synths and vocals.
The connection order is: Mixer – Eventide H90 – Microcosm – Meris Lvx -Meris Mercury X – Mixer)
Today, when I connected the H90 to the signal chain, I found that it did not work properly. For example, a tape delay effect that originally had a long decay became very short, and it sounded like the signal was weakened. The same was true for the reverb and granular presets. I tried to bypass the pedal after the H90, and the situation did not change. But when I only connected the H90 in the entire fx loop, it sounded normal.
I set the signal source of all other pedals to line level and set it to buffer bypass, but the problem still exists.
I don’t know if the Eventide H90 is not suitable for use as the first position in the entire signal chain? Or is there another reason? In my country, few people discuss related issues, and my English is also very poor. I hope to get help from everyone!

How are you powering your effect pedals? Are you sure they are all receiving the right amount of power? If the H90 works well by itself, then there is no reason why it would not work well in a signal chain unless one of the other pedals is experiencing issues. Have you tested the other pedals in isolation?

I use the original power supply for H90. Other pedals are powered by voodoo power supply.I have tested other pedals separately as they are working fine for a long time. The problem only occurs when the H90 is connected to them.It is also completely normal when using H90 alone.

Is it the effects in the H90 that sound different? Or the others pedals? Do you have the same issue if the H90 is bypassed? In all of the bypass modes?
It may be best to systematically (one at a time) remove the other pedals from your chain to determine what the actual source of the issue is; it also sounds like you may need to adjust the IO levels of your H90 to deliver enough signal to the pedals that follow it. Are your IOs perhaps still set to guitar level?

It’s the h90 effect that sounds different, when the h90 is bypassed the other pedals are normal. I’ve tried every io and they sound the same.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>When removing the other pedals, the h90 is completely fine. Now the problem seems to be that it needs a buffer. I think the problem may be in the setup of the h90, after all, it is not used for a regular guitar chain.</p>

Are you connecting the H90 in mono or stereo? Are you certain the right set of outputs are being used? If the H90 is being used with a mixer and synths it’s best to run all of the I/O line level.
Which model of Voodoo Lab power supply are you using for the other pedals?
