Hello,
i am a happy owner of the Orville, and i want to ask you two things.
the second question will may be silly,so please forgive my ignorance!
1st)
on Saturday, when i played with one of the Orville's preset(no tweak)
the Orville freeze, and the screen show :
ERROR-Suggest Power-Down
host:HCerror
(Any Key to Continue)
…but no key act!…so,i turn the Orville off.
Can you please tell me what was this?
and what should i do?2nd)…please don't laugh…!
Orville is my first serious machine, that's why i don't know if this is cause a fault or cause my ignorance.
the same day with the "ERROR" that i wrote before(Saturday)
after playing for about 3 hours and exploring the Orville…i realize that my room start to smell!
it was not a "bad" smell neither like "something is burning"
it was that intense that cause me a headache!
funny thing…next morning the smell was still there.
since i don't know as i mentioned before, can you please answer to me?
Thanks,
Nikos

The HC error means that one of the dsps was overloaded or shut down. It may be associated with a bad digital input or certain presets. Either way, no need to worry unless it happens repeatedly.
The Orville can run quite hot, which may cause the effect you describe. Make sure that it has good ventilation. Or it may be something else entirely ..

thank you!
it didn't happen repeatedly…it happens once.
…no digital connection,
…the only thing that i remember is that i was running 2 delays oscillating with mix 100%…i was testing me! 🙂 and boom…Orville stopped.
what should i do to have an good ventilation?
thanks,
Nikos

Make sure it is (ideally) open to the air on the top and sides, or if not possible, make sure there are several inches of air between it and what is above and beside it.

…i was thought that my H3500DFX wants a 1U Rack Ventilation Panel on top of it.i didn't listen something similar to Orville…?
is it a must to put an 1U Rack Ventilation Panel on top of the Orville?
…because "space" is valuable.……………………………………………………………………………..
i have realized that both the H3500 and the Orville get hot…Eclipse never!
thanks again,
Nikos

A ventilation panel would be a good thing .. try it and see if it fixes the problem.

Your Orville is now quite old, so it may have hardware issues, which could be made worse by temperature..
Try anything you can do to make it cooler – take off the top plate, add fans, lots of space around it, etc.
