I know the H9000 is capable of receiving MIDI signals and interpreting them as notes. Would it be possible (in theory) to write an algorithm that could turn these into a signal like a sine wave? I’m imagining plugging a MIDI keyboard into the H9000 and having it generate music.

Going a step further, I’m curious if there could be a way to write a program that would generate H9000 algorithms from a MIDI sound font file. Would be wild if you could go online, find a sound font, port it to an H9000 algorithm, then go to your gig with the H9000 and a midi keyboard and play without needing a computer.

It’s certainly possible, in fact I built a 4 voice synth here that is driven from the MIDI input. – https://godlike.com.au/index.php?id=420

Very cool, do you think it would be possible to build an algorithm that could play any soundfont file? Not sure if each soundfont would have to be its own preset or a full blown algorithm.

I found an example of someone tackling a similar problem but on a website rather than the H9k, not sure if the H9k algorithm programming is sophisticated enough to accomplish something like this.

Soundfont also seems to be very sophisticated, perhaps there is a similar public file format but with fewer options for multiple instruments, .wav files, etc.

Therw’s no way to load soundfonts into the H9000
