I have a Mastermind PBC/6x switcher and an H90. So far, they’ve been working well together. I have buttons on the PBC/6x programmed to send MIDI to the H90 to change patches. Works well for my purposes. Now what I want to do, is setup a button to change to a Looper program I’ve created on the H90. From there, I am happy to RECORD/PLAY/STOP etc. with the H90 footswitches.

        The issue I’m having:

While I can switch the H90 to my looper to the correct bank and program, I cannot figure out what MIDI command to send to the H90 to tell it 1. to switch to Perform mode and then 2. switch to that 3rd page of Perform mode that has the RECORD/PLAY/STOP controls mapped to the P/A/B footswitches.

        Photo attached.

        Any assistance is appreciated.

          Hello mnkyby66,

To get the H90 to toggle into Perform Mode you can assign a CC# to the Perform mode parameter in System Menu > MIDI > Global-MIDI Ctrl > Parameter > PERFORM Mode. When you assign a button on your MIDI controller to send that CC# with value 127, the H90 will switch to PERFORM mode. Consecutive presses will take you through the PERFORM mode pages. It is possible to save your Looper Program to already be on the Looper Control perform page, so that when you switch into PERFORM mode the first time, it will go straight to the third page.

First – thank you for the incredibly quick response. I’m sure I’m doing something wrong.

The 2 screenshots from the H90 and the PBC/6x are attached.

Screenshot 1: I set the MIDI CC#21 on the H90 for PERFORM Mode

Screenshot 2: I programmed the button on the Mastermind PBC/6x

            Thanks again.

Please be more specific as to what is not working for you. Is the H90 not showing you Perform mode with these commands?

Yes – it switches to the correct bank and program (i.e., Bank 5, Program 14), but it does not switch to Perform mode with those commands. It stays on the Select dial. If I then want it to switch to Perform mode, I have to tap that dial with my toe and then the I can move to the page with RECORD/PLAY/STOP.

                Thanks.

This may be related to this issue we are aware of
                  https://www.eventideaudio.com/forums/topic/h90-cant-pc-and-bypass-cc-together-bug/

Please report your problem to support@eventideaudio.com to help Eventide keep track of what’s affected. In the forum thread I posted it mentions it’s possible this may be resolved reverting to firmware version 1.8.6, but that version does not have the looper perform page. Nonetheless, if you can experiment for a moment and confirm the H90 at least shows you the PERFORM page after the series of commands from your MIDI controller, it would reaffirm our findings. We hope to get this resolved soon.

For now, you’ll have to either assign the CC to another switch on your MIDI controller or just use the H90’s onboard PERFORM knob to enter that mode.

Thanks. I will keep my eyes open for your updates. I really like the looper performance page you added and the H90 <span style=”font-size: inherit;”>buttons make it really easy to accurately start / stop loops. Wouldn’t want to lose that. </span>
