Space Presets
Description
Use an expression pedal or the HOTSWITCH for an infinite sustain freeze-effect.

Start out with the THRESHOLD control relatively high ... around -6.0 dB. Then carefully adjust the THRESHOLD for your own particular strength of pick / finger attack. Fractional deciBels between -6.0 and 0.0 dB can make a big difference in the output.
This preset starts out with a 'slow gear' effect, with a ramping attack & 1-second RELEASE time. The expression pedal lengthens that envelope decay to 4 seconds. Make adjustments to that 'recovery' time so that you don't step on the next notes played.
The HotSwitch shifts the envelope to fast attack + quick release. Clipped, funky notes (plus a THRESHOLD that worked better for my picking style). Combinations of HotSwitch'ed & expression pedal allow you to create many different envelope shapes on-the-fly.

An alternative take on the classic Spacemen 3 overdriven Jen/Vox V809 Repeat Percussion sound. This time with a bit of reverb in the mix. Running into a mildly driven amp, the sound isn't that bad. The expression pedal controls the filter sweep on the high frequencies, which adds to the sound. For an example of where I'm trying to get to see the youtube video. The preset is nowhere near as raw as what Pete Kember is getting out of what is presumably his Vox Starstreamer's onboard effects (boost, fuzz, V809 and palm wah (!). To get closer to the sound one of the resonant wah presets on the Sonuus Wahoo (F06 in particular) can get you quite close if you stick it in front of the H9.

I have uploaded BLACKFACE EQ a typical mid-scooped tonestack setting for a BF Fender amp. I'm using that in one H9 and this spring reverb preset (SPRING HSTREM) in another H9 as a silent practice rig. I plug a pair of headphones into the right and left outs of the second H9 and boost the output level in SPRING HSTREM to about 12 to 17dB (to taste). Light a cigar. Pour some scotch. And play into the wee smalls of the morning. 9/7/2022

Les Paul > H9 > Fender Twin Reverb
Reverb B is darker and slightly ahead of A. On the record it sounds like outboard gear panned to the right so this ideally is a Wet/Dry output to 2 amps if you want to get fancy.
Description
The preset below is configured for control like the previous HALL algo example. HotSwitch snaps from a 4 BAR DECAY to FREEZE. The expression pedal sweeps the same range. This one is good for illustrating expression pedal mixing over DECAY / INF / FREEZE. Try mixing the input & drone near the top 1/3 of pedal travel (towards the toe). The relatively deep modulation gets overlaid repeatedly into the background drone.

Here is an H9 spring reverb preset for your favorite surf tunes. The hotswitch adds tremolo and an exp pedal controls the speed of the trem. 9/7/2022

Here is my TS808 for the H9. The expression pedal gives you more or less gain with no increase in volume. The hotswitch adds some gain and a volume boost. This allows you to use the preset for some crunch rhythm and then hit the hotswitch when your solo finally arrives.
Description
Many of the H9 / 'Factor algorithms can mimic envelope and gating characteristics without an integrated compressor. Besides, I've always been a sucker for these Poltergist / Hendrix type of effects, when used sparingly.
The expression pedal mapping simply folds in the depth of modulation. One favorite technique is to set TEMPO ON, then play to the reverse reverb in a call-and-response manner. With precise timing, it's easy to create complex & overlapping phrases out of sparse input. Pauses are followed by a sudden 'gate' after DECAY time completion.
Use the HotSwitch here to kick in an infinite dimensional SIZE, and also add a FEEDBACK loop around the entire algorithm. Detuning and pitch bends can occur over time with expression pedal control over MOD-LEVEL. A beautiful holding pattern pushing a wall of sound; one that churns and recycles.
Disengaging the HotSwitch quickly brings up the reverse envelope once again, followed by the 'gate' slamming shut.

The Warbly Spring Reverb
A vintage amp like spring reverb with a little of warble in the repeats. It uses a low mix in order to reproduce a warmer sound from the springs. Sounds great with an analog delay in front of it as the subtle warble from the springs create a fluter like sound. Hope you enjoy.
