Here is "Space Echo 1" my first user patch to share with everyone here. It is based on the gorgeous warm analog like sound of the Time Factor's Tape Echo algorithm. I created this patch taking reference from the sonic characteristics of actual Roland RE Series of tape echo machines that I service including the RE201 and RE501. Hope you enjoy it. Tips: * Use an Expression Pedal as it's mapped to the Saturation, Flutter and Filter parameters. In the 'Heel' position it replicates the sound of a pretty well maintained but old machine, in the 'TOE' position the sound is a combination of a worn, dirty and slightly misaligned playback head with a slightly wonky motor and the tape is old and easily saturated. Also feel free to swap or include Exp control for the "Wow" parameter. Adjust the "Wet Mix" Knob to find the right dose for your application. After playing around with this basic template save your preferred or fav variants and feel free to experiment with re mapping the Expression Pedal and Hot Switch for Delay Speed and Feedback controls to get into some Dubby Tape Echo Oscillation Feedback fun. Suitable for all solo instruments or full mix use. Randolf Arriola

An alternative take on the classic Spacemen 3 overdriven Jen/Vox V809 Repeat Percussion sound. This time with a bit of reverb in the mix. Running into a mildly driven amp, the sound isn't that bad. The expression pedal controls the filter sweep on the high frequencies, which adds to the sound. For an example of where I'm trying to get to see the youtube video. The preset is nowhere near as raw as what Pete Kember is getting out of what is presumably his Vox Starstreamer's onboard effects (boost, fuzz, V809 and palm wah (!). To get closer to the sound one of the resonant wah presets on the Sonuus Wahoo (F06 in particular) can get you quite close if you stick it in front of the H9.

Description
Attempt to get the overdrive and trem sound that defined some of the best of the Spacemen 3's sound. Essentially the stripped back Vox/Jen V809 repeat percussion (a brutally simple sawtooth effect) with a treble boost/overdrive behind it. A good example is the youtube video below. To get the sound myself, I wobbled a half-cocked Sonuus Wahoo on a resonant wah setting (basically F06) in front of the H9 to get the hollowed out phasing treble. Back in the day would have been a crybaby into a cheap fuzz into a V809 (or more likely the Vox Starstreamer's onboard effects. May need to play with some other algorithms to see if can get closer to the . Or possibly need another H9 to combine...

IIRC, the H9 only has spillover delay in one of the three bypass modes. If you are not using that mode, you can still get quasi-bypass trails with the PitchFuzz and UltraTap algorithms. I have posted one "SPILLOVER" preset for each of these. PitchFuzz allows you to set a range of delay amount so I've set that range to apply a small amount of delay at all times and then (using an expression pedal) apply much longer trails for effect/emphasis. UltraTap also uses an expression pedal for this but you can' really set a minimum delay level. As a practical matter, it is more like none or all. They may have other uses but I use them to smear a note or a phrase with a ton of delay here and there. Try the hotswitch too. 9/7/2022

Sound alike patch for the H9 Sculpt Algorithm. Les Paul Bridge > H9 > Hall Verb > Fender Bassman w/ Reverb the first 1/2, dry the second half. Adjust the sag and tone to your guitar's to get the correct amount of bite/sputter. It's close enough and cheaper than slashing the speakers on your amp and cranking it up to 10 :)

Description
I have uploaded BLACKFACE EQ a typical mid-scooped tonestack setting for a BF Fender amp. I'm using that in one H9 and this spring reverb preset (SPRING HSTREM) in another H9 as a silent practice rig. I plug a pair of headphones into the right and left outs of the second H9 and boost the output level in SPRING HSTREM to about 12 to 17dB (to taste). Light a cigar. Pour some scotch. And play into the wee smalls of the morning. 9/7/2022

Description
This preset is more of a sound design tool than a straight-up looper. Good for industrial ambient loops, or less extreme pitch bending techniques. It's set up for runaway feedback conditions, so use the Active / Bypass switch to tame any unwanted buildup or hiss regeneration. I'm running in stereo, so the results may differ when mixed to mono. The image below shows the expression pedal set to midpoint (equal delay mix and delay time values for A & B). Quick Tip: To dial in exact values in H9 Control (Windows), hold the CTRL key while adjusting, or double-click on many parameter values to type in values. Expression Pedal Heel: Delay Mix = A10 + B 0 Expression Pedal Heel: Delay A = 3000 ms. Expression Pedal Heel: Delay B = 2500 ms. Expression Pedal Toe: Delay Mix = A 0 + B10 Expression Pedal Toe: Delay A = 2500 ms Expression Pedal Toe: Delay B = 3000 ms. Pitchbending FX (using expression pedal) inside infinite looping with runaway oscillation. Imagine performing studio tape flanging by tossing sandbags at the reels. The Repeat switch allows loop locking with some added effects & FX limitations. EXP PED = Slow/short throw: slight bend manipulation. Long/fast throw: extreme bends. Active / Bypass switch for instant Stop - Restart - Chopped Loop Input effects.

This approximation of the Strymon Deco offers some more grit, flanging, chorus doubling, and/or slapback with the idiosyncrasies of a tape delay. Using the expression pedals to stop at 2ms, 14ms, 40ms, 90ms, and 157ms you have five different sounds in one preset. Adjust Time, Saturation, and Mix to taste. 11/26/2022

Here's a long decaying, 1 second phrase looper. The Rhythm defaults to 2.3.5.7, but the expression pedal is mapped across the full range, from 1.1.1.1 to 8.8.8.8. You can 'play' the Rhythm spacing as it loops. The HotSwitch changes Feedback from FB1:95 to its particular Freeze position. The long decay is defeated, and Rhythm positions can still be 'played' with the expression pedal. Note 1-4 have no Resonance (unpitched), but their active high & low pass filters are set to sweep upward across the four delays. Here is the default Rhythm of 2.3.5.7, as adjusted from the Note Grid tab. You can adjust apparent pitch / filter positions, delay timing, and overall delay maximum, all from this page.
